Duane Lundgren 1931-2006

Duane On June 14th, 2006, my friend Duane Lundgren died. He was 75 years old. Though I've known him only for about the past five years, my wife and I became quite close to Duane and his wife.

I initially met Duane through our joint membership in the Indianhead Chorus. We really got to know each other at the Thursday night jams in Amery. We had a great time singing together and he taught me several of his favorite songs. I miss him very much, and want in some way to (belatedly) spread his fame.

He worked as a teacher and a postal delivery man. He worked hard, taking care of a son and first wife whose health demanded constant care. Duane was modest, faithful, and had a depth of love I've rarely seen.

Duane expressed himself through, found strenth in, and took much comfort in his music. Every week at the jam, he sang "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" to his wife. I loved singing harmony to his lead, and am lucky enough to have recorded a handful of songs with Duane here at Mandimae Studios. He recorded this song as a favor to me, in 2003 - Ballad of the Skunk' Ridin' Cowboy

We'll miss you Duane. Keep an eye on us.
